Why I Do What I Do

I received this message from a client recently, and honestly, it made my entire week:

“OMG! I just read the draft of my talk! It’s absolutely FANTASTIC! I have no words!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I don’t know how you did this????? You so got me!!!! I LOVE it!!! Rachel – you are amazing!!!

Really. You are a beautiful storyteller!!!! It feels like me. I trust you implicitly!”

Moments like this remind me exactly why I love what I do.

It’s Not About Making You Sound Like Me

When I work with a client on a talk, my goal is never to make them sound polished or perfect. My goal is to help them sound like _themselves_—just the most clear, confident, compelling version of themselves.

That’s what this client captured when she said, “It feels like me.”

Because here’s the truth: your audience doesn’t want a performance. They want connection. They want authenticity. They want to feel like you’re speaking to them, not at them.

And that only happens when your message is rooted in who you actually are—your voice, your perspective, your story.

The Process: Finding Your Voice

So how do I help clients get there?

It starts with listening. Really listening. I ask questions, dig into their experiences, and pay attention to the words they naturally use, the stories they tell, and the moments that light them up.

Then, I help them structure those ideas into a talk that has clarity, flow, and impact. I make sure every story has a purpose, every transition makes sense, and every word feels intentional.

But most importantly, I make sure it still sounds like them.

Because when a speaker feels comfortable in their own words, it shows. Their presence feels natural. Their authority reads instantly. And their voice—the one that’s been there all along—finally gets to shine.

Why This Work Fills Me With Joy

I became a speaker coach because I believe everyone has a story worth telling. And I’ve seen firsthand what happens when someone finds the confidence and clarity to tell it well.

They don’t just deliver a talk. They connect. They inspire. They leave a lasting impression.

And when a client tells me, “You so got me!” or “I trust you implicitly,” I know we’ve done something meaningful together. We’ve built a foundation—not just for one talk, but for every moment they’ll step on stage from here on out.

That’s why I do this work. And that’s why I’ll never get tired of hearing feedback like this.

Your Turn

If you have an upcoming talk—whether it’s a keynote, a pitch, a panel, or any moment where your message needs to land—I’d love to help you find your voice and craft something that feels authentic, powerful, and unforgettable.

Let’s make sure your talk feels like you!
